Blogpost: “Your Love” – A Song About Getting Lost, and Finding Something Real

There are moments in life when you feel like you’re running on empty. The plans, the dreams, the “future” we’re supposed to be building—it all feels distant when your battery’s dead. “I got a future, but batteries is empty.” That line kinda wrote itself one late night in the studio. It hit me like a reflection I didn’t expect to see.

“Running in circles / Don’t wanna chase…”
We chase things we can’t name. Maybe it’s happiness, maybe it’s approval, or maybe just a feeling we once had and can’t get back. Sometimes I forget what I’m even chasing. And that’s where this song started.

“Your Love” is about that space between lost and found. It’s about being stuck in a moment where things feel unclear, messy—“how did I end up in this mess?”—but then something (or someone) cuts through the noise.

Winter’s rolling in again. The metaphor kind of wrote itself too—“Now that winter starts to call / I don’t wanna wait the leaves to fall.” I didn’t want to wait around for another wave of silence or pain. Trouble’s been my shadow for a while, but this time, I didn’t wanna sit in it.

And then there’s you.
“It’s funny cause I never fall in love…”
I used to laugh at love songs. But suddenly, I was writing one. And it wasn’t even about the fairy-tale kind of love—it was about something real. Raw. Unpredictable. Close.
So close that it scared me.

This song brings up little me too—broken-hearted, out of place. That younger version of me didn’t belong where she was, but she made it through.

So yeah. “Your Love” is not just a song. It’s a journal entry, a whispered confession, a loud realization, all wrapped in a beat that makes the heartbreak danceable.

Let me know what you feel when you hear it.

Much love,
Mary
